For over six decades, our church basement has been used as our school’s cafeteria. Every school day, you will find students enjoying their meals, laughing with friends, and carefully planning their recess activities together. As you can imagine with a 60+-year-old building and limited natural sunlight in a basement, our lunchroom needs some updates. We are excited to create a space where students can communicate, collaborate, and create. 

Currently, our folding tables are long and narrow making it difficult for students to have conversations in small groups. Because of the inefficient layout, teachers find it difficult to use the area for projects and group work. The outdated tables are quickly falling into a state of disrepair. 

This year’s #weGIVECatholic campaign hopes to give some much-needed attention and love to our lunchroom to help our students and staff COMMUNICATE, COLLABORATE, and CREATE more effectively. 

With your help, new chairs and round tables in our cafeteria will allow students to better COMMUNICATE and socialize with one another and promote a family-like atmosphere during their lunch periods. The new layout will allow teachers to be able to use the large space for projects when students need to COLLABORATE in small groups. Having the newly designed space will maximize opportunities for our teachers to help our students discover, CREATE, and become 21st-century learners. 

We are also hoping to raise enough money to make other improvements throughout our school, including replacing the window treatments in all our classrooms to provide a more secure environment for our students and staff. 

The students will once again have the chance to support our school through our exciting #weGIVECatholic Homeroom Challenge! And staying with our lunchroom theme, each of the three lunch periods will also compete against each other for the title of “coolest lunch period!". The lunch period that raises the most money will win a special Navigator Snow Play Party, complete with special activities including a chance to bring their outdoor gear for a fun afternoon to play in the snow, hot chocolate and snow cones, trivia, and prizes. It's a win-win for our students and our Navigator community! Welcome to St. Francis Xavier School, the home of the Navigators! Our campus is located in beautiful Medina, Ohio for students in grades preschool through eighth grade. St. Francis Xavier School is a special place that instills values, faith, leadership, discipline, and respect to help our students develop a strong Catholic foundation for life.
