Incarnate Word Academy

Incarnate Word Academy is the sponsored ministry of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word. As a community of learners filled with the Spirit of the Word-Made-Flesh, we are committed to living Gospel values and inspiring academic excellence.

Our theme for the 2023 Day of Giving is #BeLove! The IWA Community is invited to "be love" this holiday season, in big and small ways, by helping a fellow student, making time for family, or lending a hand to a neighbor in need.

This year's Day of Giving will benefit the IWA Fund, which funds operating expenses and capital improvement projects, such as the new creative design space, the IWA Fab Lab, coming Summer 2024.

The IWA Fund is essential to carrying on the ever important mission and legacy of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word. Your support on the Day of Giving not only allows us to continue to offer affordable education at the high standards set by the Sisters of the Incarnate Word, but also allows us to transform and modernize our school’s spaces to ensure their legacy lasts far into the future.

Your Impact

Last year, you helped us raise over $65,000 for the IWA Fund and capital improvements like the new IWA Library. 

As a result of the Sisters’ generosity, the second floor became the new home of our Library and Writing Lab, a space used by all students in Kinder Prep through Grade 8, which is Phase I of the second floor renovations. The theme for the Library is “a cabin in the woods,” and as you walk into the Library, you are immediately transported into a tranquil, woodland cabin filled with reading nooks, a beautiful mural, and a fireplace with comfortable chairs. Mrs. Bernadette Glorioso, IWA parent and world-renowned muralist, designed the mural as a paint-by-number piece so that IWA families and students could participate in the project. 

This year, we are extremely excited to share our plans for a new creative design space, The IWA Fab Lab, which will include both a “clean lab” and a “dirty lab”. The two state-of-the-art design spaces will be connected by glass doors and utilized by all of the students in Kinder Prep through Grade 8. The creative design space will also be available for all faculty to use for instructional purposes and to create their own classroom materials.

Who We Are

Founded in 1935, Incarnate Word Academy is a Premier Independent Catholic School serving a diverse group of young learners from Preschool to 8th grade. The Sisters of the Incarnate Word built this school with a commitment to delivering a superior education in an environment rooted in faith with the highest ethical values and conduct. Nationally recognized, IWA has grown to become a Model of Educational Excellence. We strive to inspire and support each student to achieve academic and personal success through advanced classes, enriching clubs and team athletics. Our students learn to think for themselves, practice their faith, exercise responsibility and become leaders in a safe, dynamic environment. The IWA Classroom Challenge!

We are excited to announce the IWA Classroom Challenge! Each classroom has a page to raise money for the Day of Giving and earn special prizes for their classrooms. As a part of our $50,000 goal, we hope to raise $38,000 from our homeroom challenge: that’s $100 for each IWA student! Parents, family members and friends should use their student’s classroom link to ensure their donation gets counted in the competition.
