St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception School, Wooster

Two years ago through a grass roots effort, school families and parishioners had a vision to upgrade the Activity Center. Over the last two years we have raised money to paint the entire gym, floor to ceiling, purchase an updated digital sound system and replace the existing lighting with LED fixtures with dimmers. Through fish fries, pancake breakfasts, Night In New York , Munch, Mingle, Jingle, popcorn sales and private donations we have been able to raise the majority of the funds for the project. Most of the work was done during the COVID-19 shutdown. In response to the COVID-19 reopening, the Activity Center has served as a space of worship for Sunday as well as school mass, school lunches, parish activities, extended day and gym class.

The last part of the project is to replace the floor and modify the lunch tables to accommodate the new flooring. The current floor has seen better days and was originally installed in 1968. After many hours of research and discussion, we have decided on the best solution to our flooring needs that will serve the parish for years to come.

We are half way there with our fundraising efforts, but we would like to complete the project for the 175th anniversary of St. Mary Parish.
