St. Mary School, Elyria

St. Mary School and Church are excited to be participating in Northeast Ohio’s Online Day of Catholic Giving. In the past, we joined forces with the parish to raise funds for our parking lot and playground. The parking lot was completely repaved and painted. 

This year our goal is $15,000 for recarpeting the junior high classrooms and making needed classroom improvements. Thank you for your support!

• $100,000 Diocesan Tuition Assistance Matching Gift at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm

Again these funds go fast so pledge as close as possible to 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. Pledges must be for $100 or more in order to be TRIPLED

The $100,000 matching gift to benefit Catholic Schools will be divided into two: $50,000 will be offered in the morning at 9:00 a.m. And another $50,000 match will begin at 1:00 p.m. All gifts of $100 or more will be matched 3:1 until the matching gift is depleted. For example, if a donor gives $100 to your school’s #weGIVECATHOLIC campaign, $300 will then be given to that same school in tuition assistance!

Who We Are

SMS Faith Academics Service

St. Mary of the Assumption, located in Elyria, Ohio, was founded in 1859. Since then the school has expanded and the former students go to amazing high schools to further help cultivate their talents. St. Mary School serves students in grades preschool to eighth, including a 5 star preschool; half and full day.

A strong emphasis is of course placed on a faith centered education. First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are celebrated in second grade while Confirmation is celebrated in eighth grade. Christian principles are integrated into the curriculum not only in formal study, but also as a way of life. This is a welcomed change for families seeking an education that continues beyond math and English, and includes an emphasis on Christian morals and values.

Where most schools leave off – St. Mary School of Elyria is just beginning. St. Mary School takes it to the next level as we prepare our students for their future roles with a challenging curriculum. Not only do we make every effort through our teaching style to enhance the individual student’s self-esteem, but we work to nurture their leadership skills. Students are taught self-discipline, and encouraged to foster a responsibility for peace and justice.

St. Mary School is open to children in grades preschool through eighth grade. Our students do not need to be Catholic to attend St. Mary School. They simply need to be open to a Christian education.
