Our parishioners have always loved praying to Mary in the little courtyard near the entrance to the parish office. But, let's be honest, it's seen better days: The pavers are uneven, the lights are broken, and poor Mary is looking a bit worn down.
We're asking for your help this year to replace this statue with a larger one, which will go on a new, larger base that is moved back a bit. The side walls will come down and the paved area smoothed and enlarged to create more space for larger groups to gather to pray, including PSR classes and renewal groups.
We like the idea that it's one of the first things people will see when they come to the parish, perhaps as a new member or as someone in need of assistance.
We'll add lighting and a water feature to promote a prayerful atmosphere.
These days, as more individuals and groups are looking for outdoor spaces to gather, we'd like to improve upon this space and perhaps add some others, if we raise enough money. Some other ideas under consideration: an outdoor Stations of the Cross, or a rosary garden/walk.
What ideas do you have?
