Support VASJ students at Ursuline Conference

“There is a spot in our hearts ever dear…”  The words to our alma mater still ring clear in my head 40 years after graduation.  The Ursuline charisms still remain strong at VASJ today. Coupled with the Marianists, Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School is committed to the traditions instilled by both religious orders during our high school years; staying committed to the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of each student.

Our students at VASJ need our service and support.  The Ursuline Education Network, in conjunction with Ursuline Academy in New Orleans and through a grant provided by the Ursulines of Cincinnati, have invited four female students to a student retreat in January.  All housing, meals, retreat supplies and transportation to and from the retreat centers will be provided. The cost for the three-day retreat for our students (and two adults) is $100 per person and does not include travel to/from New Orleans.  Students from Ursuline schools throughout the country will be in attendance, and we’d like to have representatives from VASJ attend as well.

The total cost for the retreat and transportation will be $5,000 for our VASJ group.  The student retreat is entitled “Faithfully and Joyfully – St. Angela’s Inspiration in Everyday Living.” This spiritual and historical retreat will focus on the application of St. Angela’s instructions as a compass in our world and everyday life.  Most of us were fortunate to have Ursuline Sisters in our midst every day at Villa Angela Academy. Our current students should have the opportunity to learn more about St. Angela through this special retreat.

And so, I ask our VA alumnae to consider helping our VASJ students attend this retreat.  Our goal is to raise $5,000 by the end of November, and my goal is to help raise $500 from my VA friends.   Please consider a donation to VASJ to help make this retreat opportunity at reality for four of our female students and two adult chaperones.   Donations will be accepted here between November 19th and November 27th.  

Thank you for helping our young women at VASJ have the opportunity to learn of the charisms of St. Angela Merici along with other students from across the country.  Help the VA Ursuline legacy live on for our students. SOLI DEO GLORIA!
