Great things are happening at St. James. The roof is being extensively repaired. And this year the We Give Catholic campaign is under way to support that effort. Fran Hayden was a major force at St James: CYO Leader, coach for basketball and volleyball, liturgy planner, Sacred Heart, Stephen Ministry, Bingo, Eucharistic Minister to the homebound, and many other roles.
Fran is probably best remembered for her work on the St. James Fish Fries. She organized and ran the last Fish Fry before St James was closed in June 2010, and she was the one, with Father Workman’s consent and support, to restart our Fish Fries the first Lenten season after St James re-opened in July 2012.
Perhaps most importantly, Fran was a founding member of the Friends of St James that successfully petitioned Rome to reopen St James. As we continue to rebuild St James it seems only fitting that we remember and honor Fran Hayden with our support for this year’s We Give Catholic campaign. We have set a goal of $6000, and the Friends of St James will kick off the campaign with a $2000 donation.
